Mentoring: The Most Important Tool in Your Professional Arsenal

Jennifer Csik Hutchens participated in a panel discussion on Mentoring: The Most Important Tool in Your Professional Arsenal on Monday, December 3.  This program was presented by the American Health Lawyers Association.

The panel discussed the benefits successful mentoring relationships can offer, and practical tips on how to get started as a mentor or mentee. Attendees learned tips to becoming a successful mentor (and how to find time in your schedule) from experienced mentors and AHLA leaders. A young professional also spoke about how her mentor has helped her expand her ability to effectively access AHLA’s network. Topics included:

• Selecting the right mentor for you and your needs
• Setting expectations and developing a plan 
• Communicating effectively with your mentor/mentee 
• Supporting mentees and building confidence 
• Building your networks
