Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A. is pleased to announce that Martin L. Brackett Jr. is the winner of the 2006 Legal Aid of North Carolina Pro Bono Attorney of the Year. The award was presented at the annual meeting of the Mecklenburg County Bar on May 26, 2006. Martin was nominated by Theodore Fillette, senior managing attorney for the Charlotte office of Legal Aid for his work with victims of domestic violence. Mr. Fillette notes in his nomination:

“When the Volunteer Lawyers Program sought volunteers to help victims of domestic violence in 1998, Martin Brackett was one of the recruiters for new volunteers. Not only did he find lawyers to handle cases, he set up a special project within his firm to train and support those volunteers. That project has been an invaluable resource.”

Martin has been a shareholder with the firm since 1985. His practice is focused on the representation of individuals in catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims and in white collar criminal matters. He is featured in the areas of personal injury and criminal law in the most current edition of the Woodward/White, The Best Lawyers in America. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. Martin is also a frequent lecturer to various Bar and judicial organizations on litigation related topics.
