Russell Robinson, founding partner of Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, has been named “Charlotte Corporate Lawyer of the Year” and Brent Torstrick, a commercial real estate attorney with Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, has been named “Charlotte Real Estate Lawyer of the Year.”

For 2009, Best Lawyers, a legal peer review publication, has named “Lawyers of the Year” in certain high-profile legal specialties and in certain large legal communities. This designation is based on recognition from fellow attorneys in each area and specialty. For the first time ever, the publication has named six “Lawyers of the Year” in Charlotte for 2009. Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson is the only Charlotte firm with two honorees.

“External economic conditions have created a unique set of circumstances and challenges in the real estate market, and to be recognized by the members of the Charlotte legal community for our firm’s work in this current environment is certainly an honor,” Torstrick said. “But we need to continue our hard work and look for innovative ways to help our clients maneuver through this uncertain time.”

For example, Torstrick and members of the real estate practice at Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson were instrumental in assisting Crescent Resources, LLC in the planning and development of Belgate, a major new, commercial and residential project located in Charlotte at the intersection of I-85 and University City Boulevard. The project features the Charlotte region’s first IKEA store.

Russell Robinson, who has been featured in Best Lawyers since its inception in 1983, is known in Charlotte for his record of service, through professional activities and his dedication to countless civic and community groups.

“It’s always an honor to be acknowledged by your peers for the work you do,” Robinson said.

“The editors of Best Lawyers would like to congratulate Mr. Robinson and Mr. Torstrick on this honor,” said Steven Naifeh, managing editor of Best Lawyers. “Their peers in Charlotte have consistently rated them very highly in their respective fields of expertise.”
