Adam Berkland's practice covers a broad range of general corporate and transactional matters. He regularly advises emerging growth companies through each stage of the company's life cycle, including initial company formation and early-stage commercial agreements, equity and convertible debt financings, and mergers and acquisitions. Adam also assists in the firm's health care practice—including health care joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and negotiating and preparing other commercial contracts with and for providers—as well as the firm's intellectual property and technology practice—advising startup clients on software licensing, privacy law and other e-commerce matters.
Adam earned his law degree from Duke University summa cum laude, where he was a member of Order of the Coif and a recipient of the Business & Finance Law Award and the James S. Bidlake Memorial Award in legal writing. He served as president of the Law & Entrepreneurship Society and as a student attorney in the Duke Start-Up Ventures Clinic. Prior to law school, Adam served in multiple positions on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
