Complex Business Litigation
- Represents clients in ongoing federal and state putative class actions stemming from data breach incidents caused by third-party criminal hackers.
- Regularly represents clients in post-trial motions seeking remittitur, judgment as a matter of law, an amended judgment or a new trial.
- Represents debtor as special counsel for asbestos claims estimation matters in In re Bestwall LLC, Case No. 17-31795 (Bankr. W.D.N.C.).
- Represents debtor as special counsel for asbestos claims estimation matters in In re DBMP LLC, Case No. 20-30080 (Bankr. W.D.N.C.).
- Successfully obtained several default judgments for clients in breach of contract cases.
- Successfully obtained summary judgment in a lease dispute case.
- Represented financial institutions and investment advisers in FINRA arbitration proceedings.
Appellate Litigation
- Regularly represents appellants and appellees in appeals before the Fourth Circuit and North Carolina Court of Appeals.
- Successfully obtained summary judgment defending a general contractor in a personal injury case and upheld the decision on appeal.
- Represented a life insurance company in defense of negligence claims and successfully overturned a multimillion-dollar adverse jury verdict after trial.
Business Advice & Counseling
- Advises a major health care system on statutory interpretation, compliance and strategy regarding mental health issues.
- Advises clients on application of specialized statutory privileges.
Pro Bono
- Served pro bono as guardian ad litem in a high-conflict divorce to represent the best interests of the child, wherein the court adopted the recommended custody arrangement.
