Overview

Mike Hozik advises fund sponsors, asset managers and investors on the full life cycle of alternative investment vehicles, combining securities law expertise with practical operating experience. His practice encompasses fund formation and governance, private fund secondary transactions, M&A transactions and U.S. securities law compliance.

Mike draws upon his experience structuring and operating alternative investment vehicles, in both the private and public space, to develop business-focused solutions for his clients. As a CFA charterholder and former in-house counsel, Mike holds a unique commercial perspective that enhances understanding and collaboration with asset managers, investors and finance professionals.

Prior to joining Robinson Bradshaw, Mike was assistant general counsel and senior vice president at a global alternative asset manager. Before that, he was an attorney in the private equity funds group at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP in Washington, D.C.

Before entering the legal field, Mike served in the U.S. Air Force. He is not yet admitted to practice in North Carolina.

  • Counseled a $9 billion publicly offered non-traded mortgage REIT.
  • Represented a fund manager in connection with the formation and operation of a private tactical opportunities fund with $200 million in investor capital commitments.
  • Advised a fund sponsor on a privately offered opportunistic real estate investment fund with $15 billion in capital commitments.
  • Advised a fund sponsor in connection with the formation of a private equity fund with $9 billion in capital commitments.
  • Counseled a global investment firm in its acquisition of a boutique multi-asset investment firm.
  • Advised a global asset manager in its acquisition of a private equity fund sponsor.
  • Represented a real estate investment trust with a $50 million private offering.
  • Represented multiple global asset managers in their secondary market transactions.
  • Assisted multiple funds with the launch of collateralized loan obligations.
