Clients and friends joined Robinson Bradshaw for an afternoon of CLE and HRCI credit, followed by a holiday happy hour. In the spirit of the season, we also collected new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.

Charles Johnson and Gabe Wright outlined new developments in federal wage and hour law, including the Department of Labor's new requirements for white-collar exemptions to overtime pay, proposed changes to the DOL's rule regarding joint employment, and the burgeoning risk of collective actions.

Many of the same policies and practices that promote legal compliance also promote employee satisfaction, productivity and well-being. In this session, Angelique Vincent-Hamacher and Susan Huber reviewed some of the practical ways to minimize legal risk while selecting, managing and optimizing the workforce. They discussed their "Top 10" best practices related to employee selection and hiring, discipline, termination, and implementation of employment policies.
