Richard Vinroot Receives North Carolina’s Highest Honor for State Service
Governor Josh Stein recently awarded Robinson Bradshaw attorney Richard A. Vinroot The Order of the Long Leaf Pine for Richard’s exemplary service to the state of North Carolina.
The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is the highest award for state service granted by the office of the governor, recognizing individuals whose exemplary service to their communities has made a significant impact on North Carolina.
“Richard’s career has been defined by an unwavering commitment to service, integrity and leadership,” said Stephen Cox, managing partner of Robinson Bradshaw. “We are proud to see him receive this well-deserved honor.”
Vinroot served eight years on the Charlotte City Council and as mayor of Charlotte from 1991 to 1995, helping guide the city through a period of significant growth. He has also been active in other community organizations and his church, and he served on active duty in the U.S. Army as a Bronze Star Medal recipient.
In addition to his public service and community engagement, Vinroot’s 50-year litigation career at Robinson Bradshaw focused on land use and zoning, real estate development and construction, and employment matters. He earned his law degree and bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a John Motley Morehead Scholar and a varsity basketball player under legendary coach Dean Smith.
