The American Bar Association's Section of Litigation and Ankura Consulting are hosting a daylong program that will provide practical skills training and practice tips for taking deposition testimony from experts, including Robinson Bradshaw attorney Rob Harrington.
Participants can expect to learn:
- Best practices in planning and preparing for expert depositions
- Effective questioning techniques
- Considerations in how to organize and approach the expert deposition
- Making an effective, user-friendly record
Using a hypothetical case and mock discovery materials, participants in this program will take, defend and observe mock depositions of real experts from Ankura, under the guidance of experienced trial lawyers like Harrington and judges who will provide participants with feedback and technical advice.
The dynamic program will be broken in out into four breakout sessions. It will also include a luncheon presentation and a networking reception to conclude the workshop. For each morning session, the participant will take one 40-minute deposition and defend another 40-minute deposition of the Ankura expert. Feedback and instruction will be provided individually from the faculty. Attendees will also observe peer deposition techniques, styles and strategies, and get additional coaching from the faculty. The afternoon sessions will provide the same format as the morning session, with different faculty members providing the coaching and instruction for the examination of another real expert witness from Ankura.
