Cross-Cultural Lawyering: Important Skills for Today’s Pro Bono (and all) Lawyers. Sylvia Novinsky of the North Carolina Pro Bono Resource Center and LaToya Powell of the Office of General Counsel at the Administrative Office of the Courts presented a 90-minute ethics program on cross-cultural lawyering.
Racial Equity and the Legal Profession: Obligations and Opportunities. Former North Carolina Chief Justice Cheri Beasley led a one-hour ethics program on racial equity and the legal profession, with a focus on North Carolina attorneys’ obligations under the Preamble to the Rules of Professional Conduct and the Rules themselves. The program was moderated by Robinson Bradshaw attorney and Women's Initiative chair Laurie Smith Helms.
