NC Nonprofits: 2014 Legal Compliance Update

Dianne Chipps Bailey presented at the North Carolina Nonprofits 2014 Legal Compliance Update hosted by the Cumberland Community Foundation on December 11, 2014.  Her topic "NC Nonprofits Legal Compliance, Governance, and Internal Controls" included an overview of legal compliance obligations facing nonprofit organizations operating in North Carolina. The North Carolina Center for Nonprofits updated legal compliance checklist will be used as a guide to discuss the myriad of tax, regulatory and other legal rules applicable to nonprofits.

Ms. Bailey discussed emerging and persisting issues while offering cautionary tales and recommendations to facilitate compliance. Topics included corporate governance, annual disclosure filings, state and federal tax rules, solicitation licensing, employment laws.
