Robinson Bradshaw litigator Erik Zimmerman is now a board-certified specialist in appellate practice. This designation from the North Carolina State Bar identifies Zimmerman as a lawyer who demonstrates special knowledge, skill and proficiency in the area of appellate law. To earn certification, Zimmerman received favorable peer reviews, passed a written exam, and participated in continued education in the practice area, in addition to devoting a substantial portion of his practice to appellate work.

At Robinson Bradshaw, Zimmerman guides clients through complex litigation and appeals. He often joins cases for the first time on appeal and helps clients overturn unfavorable rulings from the lower courts. Zimmerman has argued appeals in the Fourth Circuit and the North Carolina appellate courts, and he has filed numerous briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court and appellate courts nationwide.

Zimmerman co-chairs the firm’s Appeals Practice Group and serves on the North Carolina Bar Association’s Appellate Rules Committee and Appellate Practice Section Council. He previously clerked for Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. of the U.S. Supreme Court.
