Ford Motor Company recently announced that its subsidiary Ford Smart Mobility LLC is acquiring TransLoc Inc., a Durham-based transit app developer. TransLoc provides demand-response technology for city-owned microtransit solutions, including a tracking app that allows riders to monitor live updates of their transit's location and arrival time.

In a Triangle Business Journal article about the transaction, TransLoc CEO Doug Kaufman shared that Ford and TransLoc began a relationship last year when they collaborated on a project to test nonemergency medical transportation.

"Once the two companies got introduced, they very quickly saw they had a lot to offer, not just product … but also our expertise and knowledge of the industry," said Kaufman.

Attorneys John Fogg, Glen Caplan and Adam Martin led the Robinson Bradshaw team that advised TransLoc on the transaction, including Adam Berkland.
