David A. Shuford has joined Robinson Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A. as Counsel in the firm’s Charlotte office.

Shuford practices in a wide range of corporate and transactional areas, with an emphasis on international law, the regulation of international trade and investment, risk assessment and mitigation and government relations. He also has substantial experience advising clients with respect to international disputes and representing clients in arbitrations arising out of international business transactions.

“David brings a great deal of international expertise,” said Robert Griffin, managing partner of Robinson Bradshaw. “Our clients are operating in a global economy, and adding someone with David’s background helps enhance the services we are able to provide.”

Shuford is a Hickory, N.C., native and earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke University. He graduated from Duke University School of Law with a law degree and a Master of Laws, both of which were with honors. While at Duke Law, Shuford served as a senior editor of Law and Contemporary Problems and executive editor of Duke Environmental Law and Policy Forum.

Prior to joining Robinson Bradshaw, Shuford was an associate with Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C. He previously served as a legal advisor at the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal at The Hague, and as a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. Shuford will continue to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of C.V. Industries, a family-owned textile and furniture manufacturer in Hickory.

“Robinson Bradshaw is known to be among the leading firms in the Southeast, and I am thrilled to return to North Carolina and continue my legal career with such a tremendous group of lawyers,” Shuford said.
