The Mecklenburg County Bar presented the 2006 Ayscue Professionalism Award to Russell M. Robinson II at the 17th annual Law & Society Lecture. The Law & Society Lecture, presented by the Mecklenburg County Bar, the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation and WSOC-TV, was honored to have Michael Chertoff, Secretary of Homeland Security, deliver this year's Law Lecture.

The Mecklenburg County Bar's Ayscue Professionalism Award is presented annually to a current or former member of the Mecklenburg County Bar. The purpose of the award is to recognize exemplary professionalism.

Russell M. Robinson, II, founder of Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson, PA. has served the legal profession and his community in many significant ways. Among his many volunteer positions are president of the Mecklenburg County Bar, 1970-71, a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Board of Governors, 1981-84 and chairman of the Business Corporation Act Drafting Committee of the North Carolina General Statutes Commission, 1968-73 and 1985-91. He currently serves as chairman of The Duke Endowment, as well as chairman of the board of trustees for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Robinson is the author of Robinson on North Carolina Corporation Law, Matthew Bender Company, 7th Edition, 2003.
