Stephen M. Cox Named Liberty Fellow

Liberty Fellowship, the statewide leadership initiative sponsored by Hayne Hipp, chairman and CEO of Liberty Corp., Wofford College and the Aspen Institute, recently announced that Stephen M. Cox is one of the 20 emerging South Carolina leaders who will comprise its Class of 2009. The class was chosen from more than 100 nominees throughout the state from the business, government and the nonprofit sectors, all with the highest of recommendations.

"The Liberty Fellowship is dedicated to promoting enlightened leadership based on values, and offering rising leaders the opportunity to reconnect with and deepen their understanding of values that sustain them. Its mission is to nurture significant, positive contributors to our state, and society at large."

Cox of Rock Hill is a shareholder with Robinson, Bradshaw & Hinson P.A., where he focuses on general commercial litigation. Prior to practicing law, he clerked for Judge R. Markley Dennis, Jr. of the South Carolina Circuit Court. Cox is board chair of Pilgrim's Inn, which provides services to the homeless, and of the Early Learning Partnership, which develops and implements programs to ready children for school. He is former president of the York County Bar Association. He graduated from Harvard College with an A.B. in History and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
