Rob Harrington and Julian Wright Appointed to NC Supreme Court’s Commission on Practice Innovation

Robinson Bradshaw attorneys Robert E. Harrington and Julian H. Wright Jr. were appointed to the North Carolina Supreme Court's Commission on Practice Innovation.

The Commission will address the challenges of “legal deserts,” or parts of North Carolina lacking adequate access to attorneys and the justice system based on population and the numbers of lawyers serving various areas. Among other topics, the Commission will examine alternative approaches to legal licensure and the delivery of legal services. Its members include representatives from across the legal profession, including attorneys, judges, law school faculty, regulatory organizations and paraprofessional representatives. The Commission will provide recommendations to the Court and the legal community regarding whether statutory or regulatory amendments may be necessary.

At Robinson Bradshaw, Harrington represents corporate clients in complex contract, trade practices and other business disputes. He currently serves as president of the North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Foundation and on the boards of Equal Justice Works and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Harrington has also served as president of the Mecklenburg Bar Association and on the Civil Justice Committee of the North Carolina Commission on the Administration of Law and Justice, the Legal Aid of North Carolina board of directors and the Duke Law School board of visitors.

Wright serves as Robinson Bradshaw’s director of pro bono services, and he focuses his practice on employment law, business litigation, and government and internal investigations. He serves on the boards of the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy, the Center for Death Penalty Litigation and the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission Foundation. Wright previously served as vice chair of the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission and on the NCBA board of governors.
