Clara Nieman represents clients in a variety of industries across all stages of civil litigation in federal, state and administrative courts. Her experience ranges from small matters to billion-dollar cases in areas such as breach of contract, regulatory disputes and bankruptcy.
Before law school, Clara enjoyed a career as an opera singer with opera companies and orchestras throughout the United States. Clara brings the same interdisciplinary, creative approach to her legal work as she did to her singing career, seeking innovative solutions to complex problems. The performance and advocacy skills Clara honed as an opera singer help her communicate effectively and persuasively in service of her clients.

- Represents two of the nation’s largest corporations in bankruptcy estimation litigation involving thousands of claimants, successfully investigates litigation practices to minimize client liability.
- Advises a major health care system on statutory interpretation and strategy regarding mental health issues.
- Represents the nation’s leading technology software vendor for state record filing systems in defense of class action asserting constitutional violation claims.
- Represents appellants and appellees in appeals before the North Carolina Supreme Court and the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
- Represented health insurer in bid protest against state administrative agency.
- Submitted an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in support of petition for certiorari in Takings Clause case.
