Steve Newmark, president of Roush Fenway Racing and Robinson Bradshaw alumnus, received the 2018 TRAC Star Award at the annual The Racing Attorney Conference. Only the eighth recipient of this award, Newmark was chosen for his exemplary integrity, skills, service and leadership in motorsports law.
Newmark joined Robinson Bradshaw in 1996 and worked on several groundbreaking transactions for new race team ventures. In 2010, he became president of Roush Fenway and has since been an instrumental leader in the Race Team Alliance and the NASCAR charter system.
"In private practice, [Newmark] paired a relentless work ethic with an innate ability to train others in his field to approach their work with a thorough, carefully reasoned decision-making process," said Robinson Bradshaw attorney Matt Efird. "In moving to the business side of the sport, he's combined that same work ethic and analytical focus with a passion for sports business to strengthen Roush Fenway and the sport of NASCAR in general. It's no surprise that he is regularly looked to by others in the garage to help coordinate increasingly collaborative efforts to improve the sport and help direct its future."
Newmark received the award from Robinson Bradshaw attorney and previous TRAC Star winner Stoke Caldwell.
Caldwell and Efird co-planned the 2018 TRAC meeting, an annual program for motorsports attorneys hosted by the North Carolina Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association. Caldwell and Efird also led sessions throughout the two-day program, joined by fellow Robinson Bradshaw attorney Cary Davis.
