Overview
Brent Torstrick's practice areas include all aspects of commercial real estate development. He has particular proficiency in the planning, development, leasing, financing and disposition of shopping centers. Brent also is experienced in the structuring of condominium projects, especially in mixed-use developments. His relationships with prominent developers such as Collett & Associates and Cambridge Properties extend back 25 or more years.
Brent's shopping center development experience ranges from single-tenant projects to power centers. He has represented Magnolia Property Group and its affiliates in the development of 25 or more centers in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida, and Cambridge Properties on several multiple-use projects in the Carolinas, most of which include a supermarket-anchored retail center.
Brent's condominium experience includes dozens of residential projects and multiple mixed-use projects, many of which incorporate hotel and related commercial uses.
Experience
- Represents Cambridge Properties in the development of Millstone Village in Kannapolis, North Carolina, a mixed-use project that includes retail, commercial, single-family and multifamily residential components.
- Represents The Jackson Companies in the development of SayeBrook Town Center, a mixed-use project in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, that includes a retail component anchored by Target and Trader Joe’s, as well as multiple phases of single-family and multifamily residential development.
- Represented Corporate Property Group and Magnolia Property Group in the development and sale of six retail projects in the Carolinas anchored by Hobby Lobby, and approximately 30 other single-tenant and multi-tenant retail projects from Florida to North Carolina.
- Represented Aston Properties in the redevelopment of a shopping center in Powdersville, South Carolina, including the renovation of a vacant Bi-Lo store building into a new Publix supermarket.
- Represented Roof Above Inc., on a pro bono basis, in the acquisition and renovation of a former Quality Inn on Clanton Road and the former Kings College dormitories on Lamar Avenue in Charlotte, each of which has been converted to a permanent supportive housing facility.
