Robinson Bradshaw received the Outstanding Firm Pro Bono Service Award from Legal Aid of North Carolina at last night’s sixth annual Pro Bono Awards. The awards are presented by Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy (formerly Legal Services of Southern Piedmont), Council for Children’s Rights and Legal Aid of North Carolina to recognize significant pro bono contributions that individuals and legal firms make to the three agencies.
“Robinson Bradshaw is committed to our clients and to the communities in which we do business,” said Managing Partner Allen Robertson. “Our strong tradition of public service to a wide range of charitable, professional and community organizations is encouraged and supported internally, and we are committed to giving back through volunteerism, leadership and financial support.”
Attorneys at the firm make it a priority to address the unmet legal needs of indigent and disadvantaged populations, including representing tenants in disputes with landlords and representing domestic violence victims. Lawyers also provide pro bono assistance to community nonprofit organizations, including corporate organization, financing, real estate acquisitions and other business transactions. And, the firm performs pro bono criminal work, particularly in the areas of appointed criminal appeals and post-conviction capital representation.
