Robinson Bradshaw Receives 14 Awards in 2012 Ranking

Best Lawyers®, a highly-respected annual national peer review study, has named 13 attorneys from Robinson Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A. “2012 Charlotte Lawyers of the Year” for work in their respective practice areas. Robinson Bradshaw garnered 14 awards in the 2012 rankings; Mark W. Merritt was named a Charlotte Lawyer of the Year in two categories. No other Charlotte firm received more than seven Charlotte Lawyer of the Year awards.

In September, Best Lawyers® named 62 Robinson Bradshaw lawyers Best Lawyers in America® for 2012 – 58 in Charlotte and four in the firm’s Research Triangle and Rock Hill, South Carolina offices. Best Lawyers® listed more Robinson Bradshaw attorneys than any other firm in Charlotte and more than any firm in North Carolina in 10 separate categories.

Everett J. Bowman, who focuses his practice in antitrust and complex commercial litigation, was named the Charlotte Litigation – Antitrust Lawyer of the Year for 2012. Bowman was named the Charlotte Antitrust Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers in 2011.

Peter C. Buck, who practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, banking and finance, and energy law, was named Charlotte Banking and Finance Law Lawyer of the Year for 2012. Best Lawyers also named Buck Corporate Governance and Compliance Lawyer of the Year for 2011, as well as Charlotte Mergers & Acquisitions Lawyer of the Year in 2010.

John H. Carmichael, whose areas of practice include land use and zoning, commercial real estate and land use litigation, was named Charlotte Land Use and Zoning Law Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Robert W. Fuller, whose practice focuses on counseling business clients and resolution of business disputes through litigation, negotiation, or ADR mechanisms, was named Charlotte Litigation – Mergers & Acquisitions Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Karen A. Gledhill, who has a broad-based corporate practice with particular emphasis on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and other business strategic alliances, was named Charlotte Health Care Law Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Graham D. Holding, who practices in the area of estate planning, trust and estate administration and taxation, was named Charlotte Trusts and Estates Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Haynes P. Lea, who practices primarily in the areas of investment management, fund formations, and private equity and venture capital transactions, was named Charlotte Venture Capital Law Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Edwin F. Lucas, III, who practices in public finance, was named the Charlotte Public Finance Law Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Stephen M. Lynch, whose practice covers a wide range of corporate transactions, with a principal focus on securities transactions and compliance and on mergers and acquisitions, was named Charlotte Securities Regulation Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Mark W. Merritt, whose practice covers a broad range of business-related litigation, including, antitrust litigation and counseling, complex and class action litigation and securities litigation, was named both Charlotte Bet-the-Company Litigation Lawyer of the Year and Charlotte Litigation – Securities Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Russell M. Robinson, II, who concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and commercial law, securities, and charitable foundations and other not for profit organizations, was named Charlotte International Trade and Finance Law Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

John R. Wester, who concentrates in the trials and appeals of complex civil litigation, was named Charlotte Appellate Practice Lawyer of the Year for 2012. Wester was named Charlotte Bet-the-Company Litigator of the Year for 2011.

Julian H. Wright Jr., whose practice focuses on employment law, business litigation, and securities disputes, was named Charlotte Labor Law – Management Lawyer of the Year for 2012.

Best Lawyers is a peer-review publication for legal professionals and recognizes leaders with “Lawyer of the Year” designations for high-profile practice areas in communities across the United States. Only one lawyer in each identified practice area is named Lawyer of the Year in each community.
